Earlier than this time, there have been cries through the indigenes of the network for the reopening of Ogwashi-Uku polytechnic which had in advance been closed in 1986 by way of the then army Administrator Lt. Colonel Jerry Useni, 4 years after its establishment.
The closure turned into visible as obviously unfair because the Edo state university (now AAU) which was set up at the equal time as Ogwashi-Uku Polytechnic become no longer affected.
The work finished by means of Michael Okonjo, who was then the Chairman, the house committee on schooling and that of his brother, overdue Isaac Okonjo who changed into the Secretary to the Bendel country government in making sure the status quo of the Ogwashi-Uku polytechnic have been undone through a army decree. Sad with this improvement, the humans persisted to combat for the reopening of the polytechnic.
With the appearance of democracy, the fight collected momentum. On the vanguard of the combat to reopen the Polytechnic have been Chukwuka Benjamin Okonjo, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, leader Oba Ilechie and different stake holders like Pascal Nwaorah, overdue Kisito Ilechie and plenty of others.
